Africori Boss Mr. Yoel Kenan
FORMER Europe Sony Records vice
president and Africori boss Yoel Kenan is in Tanzania to sign musicians who wish
to have their music sold and distributed online. Kenan, who arrived in Dar es salaam last week,
said the deal would see Tanzanian musicians giving rights to Africori to upload
music online and get 70 percent of the sales while the remainder goes to the
company.
Speaking after the meeting with
Africori many artists under Tanzania
music federation, described the initiative as the best thing to ever happen to Tanzania music.
Speaking on behalf of Gospel
Musician Mr. John Shabani (East
African Gospel Teacher) said "I am in, I think it makes business sense,
most Tanzanian musicians get nothing from the record sales and yet their music
is being distributed online.
"We have a number of Tanzanians
living outside the country and this is going to be the legitimate way of
accessing our music," he said.
The Africori boss said the company
was dedicated to ensuring that its clients benefited from the best deals in the
industry.
