For the first time in Tanzania, through TAWIA, widows gathering /enjoying together with their children on valentine  day .

TANZANIA WIDOWS ASSOCIATION - TAWIA
is an non – Governmental and non- profit making organization, registered under the laws of Tanzania, with the registration number 19708, under the societies act (Cap. 337 R.E. 2002)

Tawia dedicated to the Men and Women who have lost a spouse or significant other, and children who have lost a parent.

Our Motto: Bringing hope to the widows & their children
Our goal is to assist Men, Women, and children who are walking the unwelcome path of a devastating loss of a spouse, significant other or parent by providing educational, emotional, spiritual, physical and financial resources needed to move forward.

TAWIA works hard to serve our very special community. Being there for widows is especially important since many social service agencies, hospitals and hospice groups that might offer support are experiencing budget cutbacks. TAWIA helps women rebuild their lives for as long as they need us. For those reasons, we’re working harder than ever to raise the funding to back our programs and services, pursuing public and private grants and charitable foundation support. In addition, in the same way that the TAWIA looks to its own for emotional support, we also look to those among us who can help us financially so we can continue to fulfil our mission. For example, we actively seek corporate sponsorship and the generosity of individuals.

When a woman becomes a widow in Africa there is usually no money for living purposes let alone educating their children. As a result children are quite often forced to work either in the streets or in factories. Sending a child to school is a cost a widow can’t afford as they need a uniform, exercise books, etc.
Therefore, we have helped finding support to educate children and here is an update on the numbers.
Before I provide any figures I just want to advise that when our supporters help us to send a child to school we make a 5 year commitment. This means there is a guarantee in place that the education they receive is long lasting rather than stopping and starting which isn’t particularly helpful.

Nilitembelea kituo cha Shalom Orphanage Centre mwaka 2014, hakika nilijifunza mambo mengi, huku nikijaribu kuona tofauti iliopo kati ya vituo mbalimbali vya watoto yatima nilivyowahi kuvitembelea Tanzania na nje ya mipaka yetu.

Mlezi wa kituo hicho Mama Warra Nnko, kwanza ni Mjane, pili baada ya kuguswa na haili ya maisha ya watoto yatima, aliamua kusahau hali yake ya ujane na kujiona kuwa anayo nafasi kubwa ya kufanya lolote awezalo ili kuyakomboa maisha ya mtoto yatima Tanzania. Ndipo Mama huyo alipoamua kutoka katika Jiji la Arusha, huku akiacha makazi yake mazuri na kujielekeza huko karatu, ni takriba kilomita 160 kutoka Jiji la Arusha. Tangu mwaka 2004 Mama huyo akilea watoto yatima katikamakazi aliyofanikiwa kuyapata huko karatu. Ukifika Shalom Orphanage Centre hakika huwezi kuyazuia machozi yako, hasa bale unapoona zaidi ya watoto 60, wengine wachanga, wengine wenye ulemavu, wengine walioathirika na ukimwi, wote hao humwita Mama warra jina moja tu (Mama)

Ikumbukwe, jirani na wilaya ya karatu ndiko kunakoongoza kwa vivutio vya utalii Tanzanzania, hivyo, kwasababu ya habari zilizoeneo kote duniani kuhusu kituo hicho, watalii na wasamaria wengi wanaotembelea Ngorongoro, Serengeti, n.k, mara nyingi pia hukitembelea kituo hicho. 

Niliposikia habari za kituo hicho, nikiwa mwana harakati wa haki za Binadamu, nilifunga safari na kutembelea shalom Orphanage, nikajisikia kunzisha program ya kuibua vipaji hasa vya uimbaji. Kwa kuanzia, tayari mapema mwaka huu wa 2015, tumerekodi Albam ya kwanza na maandalizi ya mkanda wa video yanaendelea. Naamini kwa kupitia ujumbe uliomo ndani ya nyimbo hizi utagusa mioyo ya watu wengi ndani na nje ya nchi. Lakini pia mkanda wa video utakiunganisha kituo na dunia, kwani nyimbo hizo zitatafsiriwa kwa lugha ya kingereza. Pia nyimbo hizi zitawaingizia kipato.

Baadhi ya nyimbo zilizomo katika Albam hiyo ni: Mtoto wa mwenzio ni wako, Sitaitwa Yatima tena, Nani kama Mama, Baba wa Yatima na Tanzania.

Endelea kuombea kituo hicho, na pia unaweza ukatoa

mchango wako wa hali na mali ili kuwabariki watoto hao.
